The concept of an International Peace Garden emerged in 1990 when the first garden was presented by the Canadian Government to the United States to celebrate their long standing friendship. the Backstory »

International Peace Gardens

Each year an International Peace Garden is dedicated in a city around the world to recognize the contributions of that city and country to making the world more peaceful.

In 2010 the Foundationed dedicated its 20th International Peace Garden in Istanbul, Turkey. Gardens exist in twenty countries spanning five contients.

Dedicated at historic sites in the Great Lakes region of the United States and Canada, War of 1812 Bicentennial Peace Gardens celebrate the two hundred years of peace and longstanding friendship between two countries that share the worlds longest undefended boarder.
